We are joining the Vestibular Disorders Association (VEDA) to observe Balance Awareness Week, now through the 23rd.

According to VEDA, vestibular and balance disorders will affect more than 35% of Americans over the age of 40, and other studies list dizziness as the top complaint among elderly patients during office visits. As the Baby Boomer population ages, dizziness complaints are expected to rise significantly in proportion.

Unfortunately, dizziness can result in falls which can be life-altering for the elderly and chronic issues with dizziness rob people of their ability to lead normal daily lives. Many people (and doctors) believe the only treatment for dizziness is medication. However, vestibular therapy can be successfully used to treat dizziness and imbalance.

Throughout this week, we’ll be posting Facts, Figures, and Trivia in support of Balance Awareness Week, both on our blog and on our Facebook page. We hope this information is insightful and entertaining.

If you or someone you love is experiencing dizziness or imbalance, please contact us for details on how physical therapy can help.
